No domain yet? Here's how to get one
Your domain is your address online, like yourplace.com. You buy it yourself, in your own name, and you pay the registrar directly. That means it's always yours, even if you ever leave ForkPop. We never buy it for you or hold onto it.
- Pick a name. Short, easy to say out loud, and close to the name on your sign. If yourplace.com is taken, try adding your city (yourplaceatx.com). Skip hyphens if you can.
- Choose a registrar. Any of these three is a solid pick: Porkbun, Cloudflare or Namecheap.
- Search your name and buy just the domain. One year is fine. You can skip add-ons like website builders, hosting or SSL certificates, because we handle the website side. (Business email is a separate, optional extra. Ask us first if you want it.)
- Protect it. Turn on auto-renew and two-step verification, and keep your login to yourself.
- Tell us the name in the box below. When your site is ready, we'll send you the exact settings to copy and paste, with steps for your registrar.
What a .com typically costs
- Porkbunabout $11 / year
- Cloudflareabout $10–11 / year (sold at cost)
- Namecheapabout $11–15 first year (renews around $18.50)
Roughly $10–15 for the first year. Prices checked on the registrars' public pages on Oct 22, 2026, and they can change. The registrar shows the final price, including any small ICANN fee, before you pay.
Great, you're already ahead
How it works: when your site is ready, we email (or DM) you a short list of records: type, host and value. You copy and paste them into your registrar's DNS page. It takes about 5 minutes, and we check it from our side.
Your registrar may ask you to confirm with your own password or a code on its own site. That's normal and stays between you and them. Never send it to us.
GoDaddy: where to paste the records

Squarespace (incl. former Google Domains): where to paste the records
- Sign in to Squarespace. If your domain came over from Google Domains, it now lives there too.
- Open your Domains dashboard and click your domain.
- Click DNS, then DNS Settings, and scroll to Custom Records.
- Click Add record, enter each record exactly as we sent it, and Save. Then reply "done".

Wix: records go in Wix's own Domains panel
- In your Wix account, go to Domains.
- Open the menu next to your domain and choose Manage DNS Records.
- Update the website records exactly as we sent them, save, and reply "done".
Good to know about Wix: Wix only lets you edit DNS in its panel when the domain uses Wix's nameservers. If your domain is just "pointed" to Wix from another company, the records are changed at that company instead (tell us who, and we'll send steps for them). Your Wix site stops showing on that domain once the records switch, so keep it running until launch day. Your email records stay exactly as they are.

Namecheap: where to paste the records
- Sign in, select Domain List, then Manage next to your domain.
- Open the Advanced DNS tab and find Host Records.
- Click Add New Record, enter each record exactly as we sent it, and click the green check to save. Then reply "done".
No Host Records section? Your DNS is managed somewhere else. Tell us and we'll send steps for that company.

Cloudflare: where to paste the records
- Sign in to the Cloudflare dashboard and select your domain.
- Go to DNS → Records and select Add record.
- Enter each record exactly as we sent it, including the proxy setting we note, then Save. Then reply "done".

Not sure? No problem. We'll help you find out.
- Check your inbox for a yearly renewal receipt. Search for "domain" or "renewal". The sender is usually your registrar.
- Or look it up: go to lookup.icann.org, type your domain, and look for "Registrar".
- Or just tell us your domain above. We'll look it up for you. It's public info, so you don't need to log in to anything.
Once we know the registrar, we'll send the records with steps for its DNS page.

Your current site stays up until launch day
No rush and no downtime. Your current website and email keep working exactly as they are while we build your new site on a private preview link.
- Nothing changes until the launch day and time you approve.
- Before we switch, we save a copy of your current settings.
- On launch day we change only the website records. Your email stays untouched.
- We check everything right after. If something looks off, we switch back.
Before launch day we'll send you the exact records with steps for that company. We never need your password.
